From 14th to 22nd of June 2017, we took part in the international project, financed by Erasmus + Programme - "Future Vote". The project was held in Poronin (Poland) - in small village in High Tatras and attended by 40 participants from Poland, Slovakia and Lithuania.
The aim of the project was to promote youth participation and involving young peple in public life, especially in democratic processes, like elections.
All activities were realized in English, using methods of non-formal education.
The schedule of youth exchange was very tight. Apart from many thematic sessions, workshops and integration activities, the participants of the project met with the councilor – Lukasz Filipowicz and representatives of Zakopane Youth Council. During the meeting in Zakopane City Council, they had chance to find out about the duties and daily work of the councilor, as well as the functioning of the Youth City Council and disciss the role of the young people in the local community.
Participants of the project took part in the meeting with Mr. Kamil Zajac – the Assistant of the Member of European Parliament – prof. Ryszard Legutko. Young people from Poland, Slovakia and Lithuania have gained a knowledge about European Parliament and daily work of MEPs. Participants also presented the effects of their work, organizing short happening and flashmow at the Main Market Square.
Participants also visited the youth in the local school in Nowe Bystre, where they organized the artist contest "Draw the democracy" and quiz about democracy.
During the 9 days of youth exchange, participants have gained knowledge about their cultures and local culture, but they also have made new, international friends. For many people, organized youth exchnage was the first international experience.
